"two apron adorned dieties
flanked a pachyderm"
where’s the peanut purveyor
when you need him?
an alphabet city guru cautioned me
‘anything is possible within reason’
i found this to be a contradiction,
a contraption & maybe even a contraction
so i test the boozy waters over here
on the east side of our luxurious island
from a fixed seat at the odessa
i tell the watier
‘fuck your ham on rye,
i fancy an elephant sandwich’
his grimace did not diminish
when suddenly before me
were two apron adorned deities
flanking a pachyderm
‘well done’ i said
‘we actually never even killed him’
all the better i concurred
as my elephant & i made for the diner door
heading across the street to tompkin’s square
our odds of blending were better
it’s always a circus in that park
our stroll was bold and our pace peaceful
a clown approaches and says
‘springtime always makes me feel funny’
funny indeed
